Why this Blog
Leaving one’s homeland is never easy, especially when it’s not a welcome adventure but, rather, a necessary response to unanticipated circumstances.
The purpose of this blog is to offer some help to those Russians who are fleeing their homeland because they do not support nor want to participate in the “special operation” in Ukraine. This war has made Russians personae non gratae across the globe, severely limiting the countries where they can seek refuge. Argentina is one of the few countries that is still relatively open to receiving, if not Russian immigrants, then at least some “long term Russian tourists”.
As an Argentine-Russian, I felt that I was in a unique position to offer some help. I hope that the information and resources provided here will be useful to Russians considering to make Argentina their new home.
By no means am I trying to minimize the suffering of Ukrainians who are facing much more dire circumstances. I would like to urge all who can, to contribute to the Ukrainian Humanitarian effort. Please go to the Help for Ukraine page to see the many options available to give support. Although Ukrainians fleeing the war may also find this blog useful, my recommendation to them would be to take advantage of the resettlement programs offered by European and North American nations.
I would love to hear from you. Let me know if you find this blog useful or if you’d like to see other topics covered or have any corrections to the information provided. Please use the Contact page to connect with me or provide comments directly on each post.
